Canoë 2000 offers you a small tour of the Gorges and explains you why we decided to move there!

A preserved site where nature still reigns supreme

The Canoe 2000 base is located in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn, in La Malène. They are located in the Cévennes National Park, itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This makes it an ideal nature destination.

The site of the Gorges du Tarn is protected by the law of 2 May 1930. This law allows the site to be classified, which means that it is protected. Just like the most prestigious tourist sites in France, it protects "natural monuments and sites of an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque nature".

Thanks to this classification, the characteristics of the site are maintained. Thus, any project must be subject to a special authorisation from the State. As you can see, nature still reigns here and the various sites blend harmoniously together. Unauthorised camping and other commercial advertising are therefore prohibited.

Sports and outdoor activities

The ideal location of our base in the Gorges du Tarn, allows access to many sports and outdoor activities. Whether you are looking to organise group activities for your company, a school, a community or simply get together with friends or family, adventure and conviviality will punctuate your day!

There is something for everyone. Looking for a relaxing weekend or holiday? Canoeing or kayaking, lounging by the river or paddle boarding will satisfy your desire for a nature escape.

Looking for thrills? This unspoilt site will take your breath away both on the water and in the air. On the programme, via ferrata, mini-raft or canyoning will satisfy the sportsman in you. But the Gorges du Tarn still hide many secrets in its bowels. Caving is an excellent way of discovering the world under the ground. While stimulating your imagination, you will discover this universe of myths and legends by the light of your lamp.

Not sure where to start? Discover our different outdoor activities in a supervised way. You will also find all the other outings you can do on your own.

An exceptional cultural and architectural heritage

The Gorges du Tarn often seduce by its natural environment, its numerous sports activities and its quietness. Its rich cultural and architectural heritage also attracts many curious people.

This protected site offers a succession of picturesque villages. Over the years, they have blended perfectly with the landscape of the Gorges. The stone and architecture of their houses are now one with the nature of this protected site.

The village of La Malène, although small, has many assets. It is the starting point for many walks which offer magnificent views. Its Gallo-Roman archaeological excavations, its 12th century Romanesque church and its manor house are not to be outdone by one of its neighbours, Sainte Enimie.

Sainte Enimie is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. This medieval town is also a place of legend. Come and discover the mystery of its narrow streets which will take you back in time. Then discover Le Rozier, a charming village between the Tarn and Jonte gorges. You will find there its suspension bridge classified as a historical monument and its Romanesque church. St Chély du Tarn at the foot of the Méjean cliffs is also known for its heritage. Its Romanesque church, listed as a historic monument, and its village overlooking the river make it a real wonder.

The Gorges du Tarn have (almost) no more mysteries for you. You don't know where to start your journey? Do not hesitate to contact us, we will find together the activities which will mark your passage in Lozere!
